Improving the Quality of the D4 Electrical Engineering Study Program through the Accreditation process

Electrical Engineering Study Program Applied Undergraduate Program (D4-Electrical Engineering) Faculty of Engineering, Yogyakarta State University undergoes an online Field Assessment (AL) process with assessors from the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT) for accreditation assessment on Friday – Saturday (10–10). 11/10/2021). The BAN-PT assessor assigned to the Navy is Dr. Ir. Era Purwanto, M.Eng., from Surabaya State Electronic Polytechnic (PENS) and Dr. Abdul Syakur, M.T. from Diponegoro University (UNDIP). AL began with remarks from the Rector of the Yogyakarta State University (UNY), which in this case was delivered by the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Margana, M. Hum., M.A.

Margana in his speech said that the existence of a study program certainly needs to be formalized through the accreditation process. "We believe that this stage will provide various inputs for improving the quality of study programs, UNY continues to be committed to carrying out three types of education, namely academic, vocational, and professional. Starting in 2019, UNY's D3 vocational path has metamorphosed into D4 or Applied Bachelor which will gradually be focused on at UNY Wates campus and UNY Gunung Kidul campus," he said.

Meanwhile, Era Purwanto, in his speech, highlighted vocational education which is currently the nation's foundation and continues to receive direct attention from President Joko Widodo. "Although it seems separated, the vocational field must continue to synergize with the academic field so that it can complement and complement each other," he continued.
"One thing that continues to be considered in the vocational field is the development of TEFA (Teaching Factory) so that it has a strategic role in the actualization of the concept of problem-based learning in the teaching and learning process," he said.

Abdul Syakur added that the assessment process was more of an activity to photograph, match, and verify the data sent with the existing reality. "As we all know that data is very dynamic, so the data that has been submitted can change at any time," he said.

Meanwhile, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Herman Dwi Surjono, Ph.D., in his presentation again emphasized that the D4 Electrical Engineering Study Program is a development of (D3) Electrical Engineering based on the attachment of Letter from the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education No. B/185/C. Ca/KB.01.00/2019 concerning the Assignment of Changes in Diploma III Program Study Programs to Applied Bachelors in Higher Education to strengthen vocational education levels against future industrial challenges.

After the opening, the event continued with a review of the condition of UPPS and Study Program facilities and infrastructure through live virtual tours. The virtual tour is carried out at the central campus and the Wates campus, covering public facilities at the central campus, study program facilities including laboratories at the central campus, followed by a virtual tour at the Wates campus, covering public facilities at the Wates campus, and study program facilities including laboratories and workshops at the Wates campus. .

After the virtual tour, the event continued with confirmation of APS, LKPS, and LED data that had been sent by the Task Force (TF) Team to BAN-PT. There are several data that need to be synchronized regarding the Permanent Lecturer of the Study Program (DTPS), the agreement of the Current Year (TS) academic and fiscal TS, as well as the integration of research activities and PkM in learning activities.

The second day, Saturday 11 September 2021, the event continued with interviews with DTPS, then continued interviews with education staff and laboratory assistants, and interviews with representatives of study programs. The event ran smoothly, and received appreciation from the Assessor, that students were happy and satisfied with the D4 Electrical Engineering study program.

At the end of the event, an observation was made regarding the Navy minutes between the Assessors and the Faculty TF Team, Faculty Hosts, and Study Program TFs. An agreement was made regarding the Navy minutes by signing the minutes from the Assessors, Faculties, and Study Programs.

The whole event for two days went smoothly, with wisdom, and of course many inputs were obtained from assessors for the development of the next study program. The message from the assessor is to immediately take care of re-accreditation when there are graduates while maintaining an orderly administration from now on, because the actual accreditation process starts from the study program being established until the study program is still accepting students.
